Skin JSON format

Yrendr skins use JSON schema version 1. The public Skins page lists additional custom skins uploaded by the website administrator; Yrendr's built-in skins are already included in the editor. Downloaded custom files can be installed through Settings > Appearance > Install.

Every skin needs a unique lowercase id, a display name, an optional author, the complete editor color palette and exactly four extra_colors.

Colors may be written as #RRGGBB hex values or RGB arrays such as [75, 139, 255].

Caution: Schema version 1 requires all 18 theme roles and exactly four extra_colors. Invalid or incomplete palettes are rejected during installation.

Required color roles

The colors object must contain all 18 roles shown above. Yrendr validates the complete palette before installing the file; missing roles reject the skin instead of silently falling back to a different theme.

The Appearance preview uses the same important roles you see throughout the editor: background, panel, border, text, text_muted, accent and accent_alt. preview_background is the neutral preview-canvas color, while playhead and selection control editing indicators.

Extra colors

extra_colors are part of the skin itself. Yrendr uses these four colors for default timeline track colors and derives layer/timeline object accents from them. Objects also receive a small stable per-object variation, so items of the same type remain distinguishable.

IDs and updates

Skin IDs accept lowercase letters, numbers, ., _ and - and are limited to 64 characters. Importing a custom skin with an existing custom ID updates that installed skin. Built-in IDs are reserved and cannot be overwritten.

Website catalogue uploads

The Yrendr website admin validates uploaded skin JSON with the same schema-v1 requirements before publishing it. A site administrator supplies the public display name during upload; that name is also written into the downloadable JSON. Built-in IDs are rejected so every file published on the Skins page is installable as an additional custom skin.
