Yrendr 1.1 documentation

Getting Started

Welcome to Yrendr A current overview of Yrendr 1.0.0, its editing model and the main parts of the workspace. Install and launch Install Yrendr on Windows with the official installer and open `.yrendr` project files through the registered file association. Create a project Create a project with the correct resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio and export-quality default. Your first edit A practical first-edit workflow from importing media to saving and rendering video or audio output. Workspace panels Understand Project Viewer, Preview, Inspector, Automation and Timeline and the function-key shortcuts that control them. Workspace layouts Use Yrendr layout presets, panel splitters and responsive compact mode to shape the workspace around the current task.

Projects & Media

Project files Understand the lightweight `.yrendr` container, external source references and what Yrendr saves with an edit. Package a project Create a portable ZIP containing a `.yrendr` project plus its referenced media directory. Recent projects Use the Menu history to reopen up to five recently used Yrendr projects. Import media and supported files Import video, image, audio including Opus, and subtitle files from the picker or operating-system drag and drop. Project Viewer Manage reusable media and generated project assets before or alongside their timeline instances. Replace source media Replace the source file behind an existing video, image or audio clip from Inspector. Clip and asset types Reference for the seven clip categories used by the current Yrendr 1.0.0 project model.

Timeline

Timeline basics Learn the current-time marker, track stack, transport controls and the basic editing model. Timeline navigation and zoom Pan horizontally and vertically, zoom around the playhead and change track height without losing your place. Tracks Add, reorder, rename, recolor, mute and delete tracks, then manage each track FX chain from Inspector. Select, move and duplicate clips Use single selection, marquee selection, groups, keyboard nudge and duplication for fast timeline arrangement. Trim, split and delete Change clip boundaries, split at the playhead and remove timeline material safely. Snapping and ripple editing Use timeline snapping for precise placement and ripple editing when later material should follow an edit. Group and ungroup clips Keep related timeline clips together with persistent project groups. Playback loop Create and remove a temporary playback loop directly on the timeline ruler.

Preview

Preview playback Understand threaded preview rendering, transport behavior and how playback relates to the project playhead. Preview navigation Pan and zoom the preview viewport without changing the clip transform stored in the project. Preview quality Use one real-time Preview quality control for paused frames and playback without changing final render quality. Canvas snapping and direct manipulation Move visual clips in Preview with optional grid and edge snapping.

Inspector & Graph editor

Inspector Use the Master/track Scope dropdown to edit project settings, track identity, selected clips and plugin chains. Graph Editor Value and Speed curves, keyframe editing, Bézier handles and synchronized time. Clip properties and transforms Edit duration, visual transform, aspect behavior and clip-specific properties from Inspector and Preview. Automation Create, select, move and remove automation keyframes for animatable clip properties. Keyframe easing Cycle interpolation behavior for selected automation points and understand how easing affects motion between keys.

Text & Graphics

Text clips Create reusable text assets, edit text content and work with dynamic text tokens. Subtitles Import subtitle files or create subtitle assets and edit timed subtitle content in Yrendr. Shapes Create and style editor-generated rectangles, ellipses, triangles and lines.

Plugins & Effects

Plugin Manager Install, enable, disable and inspect plugin packages from the native Yrendr Plugin Manager. Track and Master effects Understand the current FX chain model, routing order, enable state and effect reordering. Generators Use procedural plugin sources as normal transformable timeline clips.

Audio

Audio in the timeline Work with audio-only clips and video audio through the shared timeline mix. Audio waveforms Use asynchronously generated timeline waveforms and control whether waveform previews are shown. Audio effects Use the bundled EQ, compressor and reverb in track or Master audio chains.

Export

Render a project Render video or audio-only output in multiple formats with independent duration, quality and encoder settings. Render quality, formats and encoders Understand video quality presets, multi-format output, H.264 hardware encoding and audio-only formats. Render performance Use Render Profiler and the FX routing model to understand why one project renders faster than another.

Preferences & Appearance

General settings Configure Preview quality, editing defaults, default video/audio formats, waveforms, shadows and appearance. Skins and high contrast Use built-in skins or install a custom `yrendr_skin` JSON theme. User data locations Find Yrendr preferences, plugins, caches and persistent application data on Windows.

Diagnostics

Render Profiler Use F7 to inspect format-aware render timings, identify hotspots and clear old saved profile files. Debug Log Use F8 to inspect handled editor and plugin exceptions without searching the console.

Interface Reference

Menus and editor windows Reference for the current Menu and Windows controls, floating modals and singleton tool windows. Keyboard shortcut reference Complete stable shortcut reference for workspace panels, projects, editing, playback and diagnostics.

Troubleshooting

Playback feels slow Diagnose a slow preview with Preview quality and profiling without lowering final render quality. Plugin problems Recover from a package that fails to load, a missing effect or a processor error. Missing or moved media Understand external source references, relative paths, project packages and source replacement. Project will not open Troubleshoot invalid `.yrendr` containers, damaged JSON members and extracted project packages. Export fails or is unexpectedly slow Separate encoder problems from decode, plugin and compositor problems.
