Install and launch
Yrendr is currently distributed for 64-bit Windows through the official Yrendr installer. Normal users do not need Python, the source tree or a separate registry file to install the editor.
Requirements
- A supported 64-bit version of Windows.
- Enough free storage for Yrendr, project files and source media.
- The current Yrendr Windows installer from the official download page.
Install Yrendr
- Open the Yrendr download page.
- Select the current stable release.
- Download the Windows installer (
.exe). - Run the installer and follow the setup steps.
- Launch Yrendr after setup has completed.
The installer handles the Windows-specific setup automatically. It installs the Yrendr application and applies the required Windows Registry entries, including the file association for .yrendr project files. You do not need to run a separate .reg file or register the project format manually.
Open a Yrendr project
After installation, you can start Yrendr normally and open a project from inside the editor. Because the installer registers the .yrendr project format with Windows, you can also open a .yrendr file directly from File Explorer.
A normal .yrendr project is lightweight and references its source media externally. Keep referenced video, image and audio files available at their expected locations when reopening a project.
Update Yrendr
Download the installer for the newer release from the release archive or current download page and run it normally. Release notes describe version-specific changes before you update.
Older Windows releases remain available from the release archive when you need to reproduce behavior from an earlier version.
User data
Yrendr stores preferences, installed user plugins, caches and other persistent application data in the Windows application-data directories. See User data locations for the current locations and the optional YRENDR_USER_DATA_DIR override used for isolated or portable development setups.
