Snapping and ripple editing
Snapping and ripple are independent timeline helpers. Their default state can be configured in Settings.
Snapping
Timeline snapping compares candidate clip edges and timing targets within a small pixel threshold. It is intended to make alignment easy without forcing every movement onto a fixed musical or frame grid.
Ripple editing
Ripple editing shifts later timeline material when an edit changes the occupied time range. Leave it disabled when you want a local change to preserve later clip positions.
Defaults
Settings > Editing stores the default state for Timeline snapping and Ripple editing for new sessions.
