Getting Started Version 1.0Updated 26 Sep 2026

Your first edit

This workflow covers the shortest path from imported media to a saved Yrendr project and rendered output.

Prerequisites

  • Create or open a project.
  • Keep at least one supported media file available for import.

Edit your first project

  1. Import media. Press Ctrl+I or Ctrl+M, use the Project Viewer import action, or drag a supported file into Yrendr.
  2. Place an asset. Drag a Project Viewer asset to a timeline track. Visual media can also be dropped into Preview for placement at the current canvas position.
  3. Edit timing. Drag clips to move them, use trim handles to change boundaries, press Ctrl+B to split at the playhead, or press Ctrl+D to duplicate the selection.
  4. Adjust the clip. Select a visual clip and use Inspector for transform and clip-specific properties. You can also move visual clips directly in Preview.
  5. Add effects. Use Inspector's Scope dropdown to open a track and add compatible Track FX. Switch the scope to Master for project-wide processing.
  6. Preview the result. Press Space to play or pause. Reduce Preview quality when real-time rendering is too expensive.
  7. Save the edit. Press Ctrl+S to save the current .yrendr project. Use Ctrl+Shift+S for Save project as....
  8. Render output. Press Ctrl+E, choose video or audio-only output, configure the format and render settings, then start the render.

Note: Preview quality affects editor responsiveness only. It does not reduce the final render quality.

Share or archive the complete project

Choose Menu > Package project... when the project must travel with its referenced source media. Yrendr creates a separate ZIP containing a portable .yrendr file and a media/ directory.

Caution: Save project as... and Package project... are different operations. Ctrl+Shift+S saves another lightweight .yrendr file; it does not embed or copy the media.
