Preferences & Appearance Version 1.0Updated 26 Sep 2026

Skins and high contrast

Yrendr includes six built-in skins and can install additional custom JSON skins without restarting the editor.

Built-in skins

The current build includes:

  • Yrendr Default
  • Carbon
  • Violet Night
  • Teal Studio
  • Ember
  • High Contrast

Built-in skins are already part of the application and are not duplicated on the public Skins catalogue, which is intended for additional custom themes.

Install a custom skin

  1. Open Settings > Appearance.
  2. Choose Install.
  3. Select a valid Yrendr skin JSON file.
  4. Select the installed skin from the available list.
  5. Apply the appearance settings.

The current schema uses yrendr_skin: 1 and requires the complete editor color palette plus exactly four extra_colors.

Caution: A custom skin with missing required color roles or an invalid extra_colors payload is rejected rather than partially applied.

Appearance preview

The Appearance panel previews the selected skin using the same core roles used by the editor, including background, panels, borders, text and accent colors. It also exposes the four secondary colors used for default track and object accents.

IDs and updates

Custom IDs use lowercase letters, numbers, ., _ and -. Built-in IDs are reserved. Installing another custom skin with the same custom ID updates that installed skin.

Tip: See the Developer documentation for the complete yrendr_skin version 1 JSON schema.
